Nice property close to the beach

A nice place and great value. Easy walk to the beach with nice surrounding amenities. We also liked that it had character but with minimal “knick-knacks” and no carpet. We enjoyed our getaway at Kelly’s Beach Retreat!
The only minor thing that caught us was that it lists the place as 4 full baths, but it is really 3 full baths with an outdoor shower. That may be a VRBO thing because when we looked closer, it breaks it out that way, but I didn’t look at the details of the bathrooms until we arrived. Not a deal breaker but just something to keep in mind. On the plus side, having an outdoor shower with hot water was really handy to rinse off each day after returning from the beach.
Overall a lovely bright, relaxing house with plenty of deck space, common areas, a good kitchen for meal prep, and decent-sized rooms. We would come back!
Wonderful Retreat!

This property was everything we’d hoped it would be, and a wonderful space for cousins to reconnect after several covid years apart. What we loved the most were the communal spaces that were so welcoming for family chats and dinners. The walk to the beach was short and easy and the space was spotless when we arrived. Thank you for a lovely time away.

The house was very clean and exceptionally well-equipped, from the kitchen to the beach accessories outside. The short walk to the beach and close proximity to the grocery store were big plusses as well. We had a great time.

For a week, Glenn Kelly’s house was home for us. Located just feet from the ocean, Kelly’s Beach Retreat provided all the comforts of home. We had differing age groups, and there was something there for everyone. Linens were provided, and the house was stocked with plates and utensils that allowed to cook most nights. Our dogs loved the place.

This beach house is absolutely perfect! We loved our stay. So close to the beach. The walk was very easy and we had 4 small children ages 2-9. The house has been well maintained. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook meals at home. It’s the perfect location in Corolla. Beach was perfect. We loved off the wall tap, uncle Ike’s, and the hidden beer garden. Glenn was the absolute best host. He was super helpful and had wonderful recommendations for our trip. The check in and check out process was very easy. Would 100% Recommend this home. 5+++ stars. It’s in the perfect area in Corolla.

The whole process of reserving and paying for this Vacation Rental was a smooth process. The owner was very accommodating in answering any and all questions we had for him. The “Cottage” was spotlessly clean upon arrival. During our stay we discovered that virtually everything that you could need during your stay had been thought of and provided. We were very impressed with the thoughtfulness that was put into equipping the home for the potential renters. All of the rooms were appointed very well and were comfortable. The Proximity of the dwelling to the beach was exceptional. We would certainly be agreeable to stay here in the future. We were also very impressed that the home was very roomy and comfortable. The Kitchen was amazing, very roomy and well laid out.

This was the perfect place for our family! It had everything our family needed for a great week at the beach! It was close to restaurants but had a well stocked kitchen for the nights we cooked at home. It was private and secluded but the stores were easily accessible, and Glenn was the perfect host! We’re already looking at the calendar to book again!

Comfortable, clean, great amenities. Easy walk to the beach and close to shopping. Responsive owner. Central vacuum was especially appreciated to keep up with pet hair and sand. Hoping the owner will rent to us again next year. Really the only thing I didn’t like about this house was that I had to leave 😦

This was great place to spend 2 weeks with friends and family! The house is spacious with enough room for everyone to spread out. Everything is very clean and the kitchen has everything you need to be able to prepare meals. The beach is very close and not crowded. We felt like we had plenty of beach space to ourselves. We enjoyed the deck and porches, especially for stargazing at night.

2nd time staying here, this time w/grandparents and brought our family dog again. Comfortable and CLEAN, well stocked kitchen with everything that you need, twin bedroom x 2 twins downstairs with attached bath, great for grandparents and decorated so nicely with WW1/WW2 memorabilia. They particularly enjoyed! Upstairs kids room has 2 bunk beds (4 beds) and bathroom next door, 2 other queen bedrooms and then a lovely master suite w/king bed and w/attached balcony. 5 min walk to the beach, ample beach toys/chairs etc are provided. Tennis courts in neighborhood. Bike path nearby. Really enjoyed staying here, quiet neighborhood yet super close to Wild Horse Adventure Tours (highly recommend!), Harris Teeter and many restaurants. Corolla is lovely and sunrises even better! The beach is WIDE and not very crowded, even in July! What would make it even better – a small pool! Glenn, the owner, is very easy to work with and responsive. Will definitely return again!

We are happy repeat customers at Kelly’s Beach Retreat! This year our adult children joined us and we had a wonderful time reading, putting puzzles together, celebrating birthdays, taking day trips, shopping nearby, visiting the Orville & Wilbur Wright National Memorial, going out to eat, and getting up before sunrise go to the beach to get fabulous ocean sunrise pictures. The house is spacious, has all the kitchen utensils and linens you could want, and the washer and dryer are great to dry out those damp clothes. We hope to return in the future!

The week we were there, our three families could be as close together or spaced apart as much as we wanted. Some of us really enjoyed the outside shower and the extra fridge along with the washer and dryer. The spacious porch made for great star gazing. The comfortable furnishings met our needs well. It was definitely a home away from home. I’d certainly go again.

Located at the end of a cul de sac in a quiet neighborhood this place has everything you need. Beach chairs and umbrella, sand toys, and a basketball. If you don’t want to go to the beach you can lay out one the loungers to relax and tan. Playstation and Xbox games in the bedroom with the bunk beds to entertain the gamers in the family. The balcony on the upper floor is a great place to see the sunrise or just to get away. Nice big kitchen that has just about anything you need to make a large meal. The center island was great for a serving station. The living room and dining room were great areas for games. I recommend anyone wanting to visit the outer banks hec this place out.

Great location in Corolla. Close to the Harris Teeter grocery store and many other shops and restaurants in the area. The kitchen is well outfitted for nearly any meal you can think of serving. Would definitely book again for our next stay in Corolla if available.

We visited the Kelly’s lovely beach condo in Corolla, NC, uppermost end of the Outer Banks, in October for an anniversary getaway. It is well worth the additional drive up there for the spectacular sunrise and sunset views! The beautiful house is nestled in a cozy cul-de-sac and is loaded with amenities: beach chairs, sand toys, even a sturdy cart to haul items to & from the beach, outdoor rinse water & shower stall, a fully stocked kitchen with an ample island for the cook and onlookers, a large table with benches & chairs for family meals and gameplay, as well as plenty of space for all the exhausted family members to sleep! We made the brief walk over to the beach shortly after we arrived, “Wow!” was all that we could say at first. There are plenty of things to do there: beaching, biking, kayaking, fishing (surf, small boats for rent, or charter boats), sightseeing, shopping, and simply lounging. We are looking forward, with eager anticipation, to our return stay at the Kelly’s beach !

Visited Corolla NC in September of 2020 and stayed at Kelly’s Beach Resort. The facility is very clean and well appointed. The beds are comfortable and clean, plenty of bathrooms and well appointed kitchen. There are laundry facilities, covered parking and a large deck for sunning. The walk to the beach takes about 2-3 minutes, being a row back from the ocean. The facility has beach chairs and umbrellas and everything needed to enjoy your day at the beach. I would highly recommend Kelly’s Beach Resort. Very enjoyable place to stay.

We just returned from a fabulous stay at Kelly’s beach retreat with our family and our dog. Beach is a 3-5 min walk. Clean, spacious, comfortable and well decorated in beach themes. Very fast Internet and was able to work from there as well when needed. We felt very comfortable with the COVID cleaning procedures. All needed beach equipment except an umbrella is provided. Harris Teeter is less than 5 min drive. Takeout from Mexikind, Agave Roja and Island Smoothie were yummy. We enjoyed hanging out on the beach and my daughter and I went to one of the Corolla Wild Horse tours which was really fun. Would definitely stay again!

I had a fantastic week down in Corolla with my family thanks in large part to this wonderful home. It’s very comfortable and well-appointed and the location can’t be beat – a quick walk to the beach, within a half mile of a nice grocery store and shopping, etc. I felt like I was a guest in someone’s home. As far as vacation rentals go, this isn’t just a beach house, it’s a home. The Kelly’s were great hosts and responsive. We’d love to come back.

Great house in a great location. The house had everything our family needed for a good beach week. Walk to the beach was easy for even the youngest in our crew. Our kids enjoyed the outdoor shower and the parents loved the kitchen and living space. Plenty of room and space for a large family. We had a great time at the beach. The house was perfect for our group of 10 adults and two toddlers. It is a short walk to the beach and very close to two grocery stores. It wasn’t our first trip to the Outer Banks but it was our first time to stay in Corolla. We really enjoyed it not being too crowded anywhere. We only went out to dinner once and we went to Uncle Ike’s. We were seated quickly and both the food & service were great — with social distancing in place.

We had an amazing time in Corolla and at Kelly’s Beach Retreat. The location was great and we loved that it had boogie boards for us to use. The house was cozy and the kitchen was a fabulous place for cooking and hanging. We would love to have had a pool for evening swims, that would have really made it perfection. We are planning on returning to Corolla next summer. Oh and you must take a Jeep Adventure to see the wild horses. Another highlight of the trip

A large deck with enough chairs and abundant sunshine throughout the day for those who enjoy sunbathing. All appliances are clean and in good working condition. Well stocked with kitchen utensils if you want to cook. Cable television in every room and wi-fi available, there is also a clothes washer and dryer on the ground floor. This house was perfect! It was clean and well kept. The big kitchen is gorgeous, besides the huge deck, it where we hung out the most! It is stocked with all the equipment you will need. The house is a very, very short walk to the beach and Harris Teeter, we even walked one day! Restaurants and shopping is so close! The screened in porch with the picnic table was another plus. There is an additional big deck off of the main master and we enjoyed watching the sunrise …when we were too lazy to make it to the beach. Big bonuses were the extra fridge (game changer!) in the laundry room, we had more beach stuff then my sister’s house which was oceanfront and our view of the ocean was much better views then theirs! We had multiple families in multiple houses, and by far, Kelly’s Beach Retreat was my favorite! Glenn is so nice and he is very accommodating! We were there the week after the hurricane; he kept me up to date so we knew it was ok to go. He was always very responsive when I had questions. I must admit, I was nervous about renting from an owner – I had heard some horror stories. Glenn could not make the process any easier! I will be back; it was the perfect vacation house! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

The home was lovely and the beach was close. We had a truly great time. The house was well appointed & the kitchen was so well stocked. A great place!

The house and location were great! One street away from the beach (which had plenty of space!) and a 1 minute drive to a shopping center with Harris Teeter and other shops! There’s plenty to do in Corolla for activities or even in Duck, just south…both just a 5-10 min drive away. The house had everything we needed plus some! It was big enough to share with multiple families sharing the vacation, 2 refrigerators, beach chairs, beach toys, all the pots and pans you’d ever need, and a charcoal grill just to name a few. We really enjoyed the family dinners in the dining area and covered porch & evening relaxing on the large deck. Great place and location, and the host, makes it an easy and smooth transaction! Our stay at Kelly’s Beach Retreat was very pleasant, relaxing and very comfortable. The rooms were big enough for everyone. The kitchen was well supplied, although, it was challenging for us to use the cookwear that was NOT non-stick coating. The sun deck was fantastic at any time of the day. I especially liked the outdoor shower – quite refreshing after a few hours at the beach. The beach is a short walk away, which is a big plus, since we had a toddler to carry to and from the beach. We also liked the fact it was very close to Harris Teeter and Food Lion. It’s minutes away from the lighthouse and the “big” chair that we have family picture taken. The only negative comment I can make is that the house has only a small sliver of the ocean, and, you have to see it from the balcony from the master’s bedroom. Overall, we highly recommend this place. We would stay here AGAIN!!

What a fantastic property. Conveniently located and fully equipped for all your needs. Spacious and felt like home. Its located near the beach and close to shops and restaurants. The house is newly refreshed with a new kitchen, new deck and freshly painted. Plenty of bedrooms for all of your family and friends. We stayed at Kelly’s Beach Retreat for our annual Ladies Trip in June 2018, and were lucky enough to find this wonderful home. It has 5 very comfortable bedrooms – 3 queen beds, one with two twins and the bunk room. The house is spotlessly clean, and has a huge kitchen stocked with everything you need for cooking, including two large pots perfect for seafood boils. I was a little nervous about how the kitchen would be stocked given the list of items we needed to bring, but rest assured that almost everything you need will be there. The deck was great for lounging and reading in the evenings. The living room is comfortable and has a gas fireplace. There is a grocery store and a liquor store within 1 mile of the house. There are lots of restaurants and shopping a few miles north at Tim Buck II Center in Corolla. The beach is a 2 minute walk (5 minutes if you are slowly strolling) via a small path near the house. There is a huge outdoor shower, but sadly it is not open to the air (has a covering for privacy). It was very convenient for washing off sand on the way back from the beach. The only negative is that the grill is quite small – it’s one of those small charcoal grills you find at campsites and roadside stops – so if you are cooking a lot of food then it may take a few rounds to fit everything. Overall it was a great experience, and we plan to rent this house again in the future.
Perfect House for an Outer Banks Getaway 24 May 2018
We stayed at this house during the 3rd week of May and had a great time. The house is very clean and has everything you need. Kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, tupperware, and silverware. Fridge has an ice maker. There are 3 full bathrooms and 5 bedrooms. You just need to bring your sheets and towels. There is also a high chair and a pack and play for little ones. The beach is a very short walk away. It is in a quiet neighborhood. You can even walk to the grocery store. Glenn makes the whole renting process super easy and it is very affordable. There is nothing bad to say about it!

We would gladly stay at Kelly’s Beach Retreat again. Corolla is one of the nicer parts of OBX despite being farther from the southern portions. Everything we needed was nearby and there was no part of OBX (except maybe Ocracoke) that we couldn’t easily make a day trip of. The Currituck lighthouse complex is particularly close and was quite nice to visit. It was also the only lighthouse open for climbing during the first week of April. Weather was warm, chilly and everything in between, but mostly pleasant. There is plenty to see and do on the Outer Banks even for non-beachy people like my better half, who particularly enjoyed the Wright Brothers Memorial and Roanoke Island’s Festival Park and Manteo waterfront shopping. The beach is an easy walk from the house even for young children and had more shells for collecting than anywhere else we’ve been. Also a great beach for long walks. Water was icy cold due to the time of year, but we had a great time anyway. The house was great and just what our large family of ten needed, with a bedroom to spare that we didn’t use. It was very clean, updated, well-maintained and well-equipped, yet not so fancy that we had to worry all week about our kids breaking expensive or fragile decorations and furnishings. You could tell the place was set up with children in mind, which we appreciated. Lots of movies, games and cable TV for the kids, as well as beach toys, umbrellas, beach chairs, cart (which we also used as a beach stroller for our two-year-old) all provided. The ocean view from the third-floor deck was quite nice, and I enjoyed several sunrises there. You definitely are close enough to hear the waves, which I enjoy. All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay, and Glenn was a pleasure to work with. Two thumbs up.
Kelly’s Beach Retreat is a Home Away from Home 9 Oct 2017
Beautiful, spacious house just a short walk to the beach. This house has everything you will need and more! Well equipped kitchen, books, movies, games, beach toys and beach chairs. A short drive to shopping at Tim Buck II, the Currituck Lighthouse, the wild horse museum and the 4WD beach. Seeing the wild Spanish Mustangs was a favorite part of our vacation. If you take a tour, be sure to go with the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. They are the only non-profit that helps to protect the horses. Thank you to the Kelly family for allowing us to rent their wonderful home. We will be back!

Stayed here with a large group of people. Kids had a blast. The house is gorgeous and spacious. Short walk to the beach and close enough to activities to make the vacation a great time. Glenn is awesome to work with, prompt to talk to, and very kind. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone. The house rental was the least stressful part of my vacation thanks to it.

Tucked in the end of a culde-sac with a long driveway, this Beach house is family friendly with plenty of room to be all together . We all had great time time . My family and friends stayed here the week of my birthday. The house is perfect and beautiful. We loved everything about Kelly’s Beach Retreat. The kitchen was fabulous and so well equipped. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and the screened in porch. This is the perfect place to get away and relax. The beach is only a short walk away. Everyone was sad to say good bye at the end of the week. We hope to come back for a stay next year. Absolutely fabulous is all I have to say about it.

Great times at Kelly’s Beach Retreat October 26, 2016
My husband, myself and teenage daughter met my older daughter and husband who live in VA at Kelly’s Beach Retreat for a 4 day getaway. The house was the perfect geographical location for us for modest travel for us all as well as the house layout and proximity to the beach. The spacious and well stocked kitchen was perfect for late night sweets baking and fun meals together as we also took advantage of the grill for outside grilling. The house was conveniently located to everything! We climbed the Currituck lighthouse, walks along the marsh and went on a 4 wheeling horse tour on the beach. We highly recommend Wild Horse Adventures and ask for “Gator”. He makes the tour! We had amazing restaurants, shopping and endless coffee shops all within a 10-15 minutes drive either direction towards Corolla or Duck. We highly recommend The Paper Canoe for dinner and North banks Restaurant and Raw Bar for any meal. Of course Duck Donuts are a must when at the Outer Banks! We will definitely return to Kelly’s Beach Retreat. We have worked with a variety of rental agencies for houses over the year at the beach and the mountains. I can say we have had many good experiences, but Glenn by far provides the most exceptional customer service from prompt communication to making the whole process super easy to the point of a postage paid package for key return. After staying at this home, it would be hard to stay elsewhere when visiting in Corolla. Ready to go back!

This home has all the bells and whistles needed for a great adventure with friends and family. Located closely to the shore, it is an ideal retreat for those who want to sit by the sea and enjoy the view, or explore the historic riches found all over the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There is an excellent outside shower area to ‘clean up a little before entering,’ after a great day fishing or enjoying other activities in any of the nearby towns and villages. While visiting, we found extra batteries in the drawer and even walkie-talkies available if we needed them! If you are looking for a clean place to stay – where everything works – this is the place for you. You won’t be disappointed! Thanks Glenn!

This is our second week spend at kellys. The house is fully stocked and its the best value on the beach! The only downside about staying at kellys is the access to the beach. My mother stayed with us this time and using the stairs was tough on her. This has 0 factor on the house and we will continue to go to kelps for years to come with just my wife, daughter and myself. We can’t even rent a 2 bedroom for the price!

Another great year vacationing in Corolla at Kelly’s Beach Retreat. This was our 10th anniversary. We truly love this house and its location, which offers privacy while being only a short walk from the beach. The kitchen is great and having a second refrigerator makes it even better. We eat in mostly and enjoy family dinners on the screened porch or the dining area. There is room for everyone on the deck with plenty of deck and lounge chairs. This is a nice size house without being too large or too small. It’s just right!

Like Home Beach Retreat August 10, 2016
We have had many enjoyable vacations at Kelly’s Beach Retreat. The house is clean, well maintained, well equipped and spacious for family gatherings. We comfortably had ten people for the week. The kitchen is large enough for more than one cook and the island allows for others is relax and visit while the cooks are cooking. The large dining table is great for gathering to eat and for playing games. This house is spacious and cozy allowing for people to spread out if desired and also come together for quality time together. The two decks are great places to relax with a book and take in the scenery and wildlife. Enjoyed the grilling area with swing and benches. The second refrig in the laundry room was a nice extra for grabbing drinks for the beach. The walk to the beach is down a sandy access path leading to a boardwalk and stairs. Swimming was great as the water was clear and the waves not too rough. Lots of room on the beach for a game of bocce, corn hole and frisbee.

Kelly’s Beach Retreat was the perfect house for our family of 9. We were there to celebrate our son’s 40th birthday. The house was clean, close to the beach, and very quiet! The owners were officiant, organized, and were very informative regarding the many different activities to do in the area. Corolla is now our favorite OBX vacation destination. Corolla may a ways out from the main strip but all of the amenities are close by, such as: Duck Donuts, Currituck Light house, 4WD beach, Timbuck II Shopping Center, Starbucks, Harris Teeter, and a Super Wings.

Kelly’s Beach Retreat is just that; a wonderful vacation home. A place to bring the entire family (five bedrooms) with great views of the ocean from the upper enclosed porch off the master bedroom. The kitchen is very well designed and appointed. We were especially pleased that Chester, our American Eskimo dog could come with us! The dining area with an enclosed porch just off of it was a nice place to spend time when it rained. Kelly’s Beach Retreat is located very near a couple of shopping centers and not far from historical sites like the Corolla Light House and Whalehead. Good food can be found in the Timbuck II shopping center and a movie theatre in the Food Lion shopping center. A good time was had by all of us!

The house was spotless and somewhat remote for the Corolla area where it was located. Exactly what we wanted. It seemed like there was a TV in every room! We could eat at the kitchen island a sunroom OR a screened porch. Can’t forget about the deck that is the length of the house!

Kelly’s thanks so much for the wonderfully appointed, clean, tidy and spacious beach house. We couldn’t believe all the toys, beach chairs, boogie boards games and basketball net and balls. We enjoyed the adult swing outdoors by the grill and the grand kids enjoyed the two kiddie swings under the house. We washed our clothes and used your clothesline and pins and enjoyed the outdoor grill roasting oysters twice. Yum. The width of the beach at Corolla is so much wider than other OBX beaches where we have stayed. We enjoyed the Kite Flying Festival and brought along our kites and flew them on the beach many times. The weather was warm and sunny but the water was too cold for swimming in March, but there were plenty of other things to do. We brought our tennis racquets and enjoyed the court at the end of the street and brought our bikes and rode the neighborhood. We also brought our bocci ball set and played on the beach. The weather was warm enough to turn off the heat and open the house all day and at night as well. The Kelly’s have thought of everything to make your home away from home a terrific experience. The best part is no realty company to deal with checking in or out and you just drop Glenn the keys in the mail upon departure. Thanks bunches, we’ll be back for sure!

We just stayed at Kelly’s Beach Retreat. The reservations, payments and getting in the door was by far the easiest we have had in 30 + years. The kitchen is fully stocked with seasonings, pans, cookware, tupperware, you name it. Plenty of toys to take to the beach for the kids or big kids. Little details down to I needed 2 batteries and they had some. It was if a family lived there! All the switches are labeled to make it easy for you. We booked our next week before we left! I can see us coming here for many years. Check it out!

Kelly’s Beach Retreat Never Disappoints September 11, 2015
We have been staying at Kelly’s Beach Retreat for many years and it never disappoints! The remodeled kitchen looks amazing and is a great addition. The house is very spacious and only steps from the beach. The house is set back from the road, providing for both privacy and a quiet retreat. We love the location (close to shopping in Corolla and not too far from Duck) and never have trouble finding stuff to do or places to eat/shop. If you’re looking for fresh fish make sure to check out the Seaside Farm Market at Timbuck II and the Butcher Block in the Food Lion shopping center. I think my favorite part of visiting OBX is sitting on the deck at the house, enjoying the nice ocean breeze, and relaxing with a good book. We will definitely be coming back for years to come!

We have visited the Outer Banks since 1997 and have stayed at Kelly’s Beach Retreat since the early 2000’s. Glenn Kelly’s process is seemless with him being responsive to our every need. Great kitchen upgrade, along with the new TVs this year. So close to the beach you hear the waves. We have other vacation options but prefer OBX.

Beautiful beach house! Very clean and plenty of space for the whole family. We loved the large new modern kitchen with the huge island. There were two great grocery stores just a couple of miles down the road. We enjoyed wandering around the Tim Buck II shopping center. There was plenty of things for the whole family to enjoy and all within a short drive. It was a wonderful place to spend a week at the beach and we would definitely go back again.

The house was an awesome home for a great price. We arrived to find that the owner had completely remodeled the kitchen and it looked great. Very spacious, lots of room for cooking. The house had plenty of room and was very clean. Close to the beach and you could hear the ocean easily and had a nice deck you could watch a good sunset. Very pleased with the house and the owner is great to deal with. Would most definitely go back.

Thank you so much for a beautiful place to stay for our week in OBX! Everything in the house was top of the line! House was impeccably clean! A week was not enough time! Our experience at Kelly’s Beach Retreat October 8, 2014
The rental was located in a quiet section of Ocean Sands, Corolla NC within comfortable walking distance from the beach which was visible from the upper porch of the property. A grocery store (Harris Teeter) was within 2 miles. The inside of the house was light and airy and the kitchen had all the necessary appliances like a home; a washer and dryer were located downstairs. The living area was large enough to accommodate 8 to 10 adults. The beds were comfortable and we found the house clean and tidy upon our arrival. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch which adjoined the master bedroom and another nearby room. From there we could see the ocean. The lower porch was sunny all day and was spacious. We enjoyed our stay there.

Great Scout Weekend Retreat October 1, 2014
Kelly’s Beach Retreat provided just what the Scouts needed to get away for the weekend; close to the beach, large kitchen for all of us, and close to shopping. With school and extracurricular activities starting back up, a weekend away with their Sister Scouts was fabulous. We enjoyed the beach, family meals together, shopping, and completed a badge. The Kelly’s Beach House has been our OBX place since the early 2000’s. We love the beach and house. Mr. Kelly is great with coordinating the week and rental details. Anytime issues have surfaced he is quick to address and resolve from hurricanes to stuff needing fixing. We have an option to go to Seaside Park, NJ for vacation but choose OBX. It s another way of life and worth the trip!

My family of 5, along with my sister’s family of 4 and my two daughters’ boyfriends, all from New England and diehard Cape Cod vacationers, were wowed and wooed by Kelly’s Beach Retreat and the Outer Banks. The house was welcoming, comfortable and well-equipped, tucked away at the end of the road and oh so close to the beautiful, pristine beach. And what?? No rocks, seaweed or jellyfish? Heaven!!! We spent long days on the beach, washed off in the huge outdoor shower, had happy hour on the deck watching the sea grass in the breeze, dined at the big table, and laughed, read and played cards in the cozy living room. We had a wonderful, too-quick break from reality. Our dog is still getting over the fact that he can’t chase crabs on the beach while the sun rises over the ocean every morning.

Looking for rental homes can be a tedious process. With so many options to select from, searching can go from being exciting to monotonous and frustrating in a relatively short amount of time. Luckily, I came across Kelly’s Beach Retreat, and my searching stopped there. Of course, as most people would, I looked over the house’s “stats” and easily determined that it would be perfect for my family. After looking over the photos and speaking with the owner, I excitedly booked the house for our week long vacation. After the 12 hour drive it was a welcome site for sure! The house was exactly as depicted in the pictures I viewed online and in the perfect spot. The house is nestled in the corner of a small cul-de-sac without being too close to the other homes. The exterior was very beachy and suited the atmosphere well. We hurriedly unpacked our cars and headed inside. As we ascended the staircase we looked upon the spacious deck lined with reclining chairs for sunbathing and allowing for ample seating for a large family. We entered through the screened-in portion of the deck (which was perfect for letting our dog, Abbey, dry off after being on the beach all day) and opened the door to the interior of the house. Immediately the central air greated us with a refreshing blast of cold air after being stuck inside a hot car from our long drive. The kids explored the bedroom downstairs before heading upstairs to claim the rooms they had already chosen based on the pictures I showed them online. Each room was very comfortable and more expansive than what I had imagined. After we put our luggage in our rooms we moved to the kitchen to put away the few spices and perishables we had packed in our coolers. Being a part of a family centered around cooking and food, it was nice to see a full kitchen with lots of space for each family member to help with the preparation for each night’s meal. After we finished exploring the immaculate interior of the house, we decided to head to the beach for the first time. Again, the location of the house couldn’t have been better, as we had a little sandy path that we could follow to the next section of road where we could hop right onto the staircase over the dunes and onto the beach. The first night and all the nights after were extremely relaxing because I knew I had booked the perfect place for our vacation. I highly recommend this house for any family looking for a clean, pet friendly, spacious house in close proximity to the beach.

Greatly Exceeded Expectations! June 28, 2014
This is an amazing house that our entire family loved. It is very spacious and is perfectly suited for family time. The kitchen which is already amazing is scheduled for a major renovation in the fall and is fully equipped..with blender, griddle, pots, frying pans, coffee pot, wine glasses, silverware, etc. The sofa and love seats in the den are leather and very comfortable with a great HDTV for watching the World Cup soccer matches. We really liked the dining room with the long, beautifully finished wood table and benches. The design of the house with the placement of the many, many windows gives you the feeling of being close to the outside, regardless of the weather. The large deck and the nice outdoor enclosed showers were perfect for a large group wanting to take showers at the same time. Also, we did not run out of hot water which is important if everyone is getting ready to go out to dinner. I especially liked being able to park underneath the house in the event of hailstorms. The short walk to the beach was very manageable and the beach chairs and beach cart were wonderful, reducing our packing burden. When we arrived, we were impressed with how clean the house was! Also, Glenn allowed us to bring our daughter’s small dog which was greatly appreciated. Glenn Kelly was wonderful to work with. Because I work as a travel consultant, I am familiar with the scams and misleading advertisements for rental properties. But, I called Glenn and arranged for us to see the house before the rental. So, there were no surprises when we arrived. We want to return to the house soon. The only suggestion that I would have for this 5-star property would be to fully stock the refrigerator with beer and wine. Just kidding! If you are considering renting this house, be sure to book early because we got the last available week through September. Obviously, other guests like the house as well.

We arrived and wow, the house and the location was everything and more that the pics promised. Plenty room, plenty amenities and the beach was to die for. My husband and I are far from being world travelers and until recently we really didn’t take many vacations without our children. But, our three children are grown; with lives of their own, so, now we have more time for some mini vacations. We started by renting a beautiful beach home in Corolla, N.C. from Glenn Kelly. We came across his listing on Craig’s List, contacted him and very quickly reserved it for a short vacation in October. We knew very little about the Outer Banks. so we were very excited about going there. The home was much, much more than we ever expected. It was huge!!! There was way too much space for just the two of us, but that only made it easier for us to decide to rent it again and to invite our family to join us there. It was beautifully furnished and Glenn really supplied just about everything someone might need, except for food and clothing, of course. We loved the extra eating area off the dining room which had the picnic table surrounded by screened windows. It was perfect for eating crabs and enjoying the wonderful breeze. The house was located within a short walk to the ocean, which our dog thoroughly enjoyed, too! He had a ball chasing all kinds of seabirds and sand crabs!! We actually saw a couple of fox chasing each other over the dunes near the house. We spent most of our time exploring Corolla and the nearby areas like Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, and Duck. We even took a day trip down to Cape Hatteras and took a ferry over to Ocracoke Island. It was a long drive but we saw some very beautiful scenery all along the way. It was so nice to come back to Glenn’s Beach Retreat, to relax on the large deck, listening to the ocean, and looking up into the prettiest night sky. It looked like a diamond mine exploded up there!! It was so beautiful!!! So, we want everyone who may read this review to know that you will definitely enjoy staying at Kelly’s Beach Retreat in lovely Corolla.

We spent a spectacular week at this paradise last week. First, the rental process itself was seamlessly smooth and simple – thanks to Glenn. Kelly’s is everything and more that you could ever possibly want in a home away from home. There’s an awful lot of love and attention to detail that was put into the comforts of this home and something for everyone’s entertainment and enjoyment – from cradle to grave – two legs and four. This was our 6th year and as always it was great. It was good to see some upgrades such as new carpet and CD player. We had a smaller group this year and the house was perfect. We particularly enjoy eating dinner together on the screened porch and spending time in the evening on the deck to watch the moon rise over the ocean. Proximity to shopping is great. We chose to eat in most of our meals – such a great year no one wanted to leave the beach early enough to clean up to go out to dinner. Kitchen is well equipped. Picked up steamed crabs from Billy’s Seafood in Colington. It’s a drive, but worth it! Got pizza from Pasquale’s in Corolla. It was good and we’ll go back.

Our family vacation at Kelly’s Beach Retreat was amazing! The house itself is roomy and very clean and well-supplied. Everyone had enough space to spread out yet a enjoyed the wonderful family room to all relax together. Fantastic for a family!! Dealing with Glenn was a pleasure. He is extremely organized with paperwork, payments and answering questions, even internationally. The beach was terrific and not crowded at all, even on Memorial Day. Two deer came to visit beside the house almost every day. Saw many dolphins from the shore too! So much to do, whether keeping your vacation low-key or high energy. This was one of our very best family vacations! Thanks Glenn! We plan to return!

Amazing spot. I really enjoyed staying here. The house is clean and so cozy. It was still a little cold when I went but I really enjoyed my time there. Everything is pretty close to the property so you can pretty much walk to the grocery store (Harry’s Teeter). The house has an amazing Disney movie collection that we watched while we stayed there. It really is a great spot for a family vacation and to get away from everything. Definitely coming back again. Maybe I’ll make this a heart tradition?

Our family recently stayed here and it was perfect! Great location with a short walk to the beach. Very quiet and peaceful. The view from the upstairs balcony was breathtaking, especially at sunrise. You can hear the waves from the deck. The house is beautiful and cozy. We felt right at home. So much provided to make our stay easy. Our kids had a blast! We rented a jeep and took a wild horse tour and it was amazing. The Currituck lighthouse is beautiful. And we visited the aquarium on Roanoke Island. Lots of fun. Great time for shopping, most of the stores had a preseason sale and most things were 50% off. We were able to get lots souvenirs. Glenn is very easy to work with and very prompt. He provided lots of information on things to do. It was extremely helpful with being our first time to the Outer Banks. We cannot wait to go back!

We rented this place in April for a long weekend right before things start to pick up in the Outer Banks. The house is really nice and set up very well for family or friends with lots of rooms and plenty of space for everyone. We are adopting three sister and they had never seen the ocean. I could never have asked for a more perfect place for them to experience such beauty. The house was clean, spacious, and the property manager was so helpful and informative. Couldn’t have ask for a better week at the beach and the outerbanks are spectacular. I was worried that we would have to travel to do any shopping but the shops in Duck had really great, interesting, and unique. Last but not least I have had dreams about Duck donuts since I have been home. I recommend this property and the management to anyone. Thanks Mr Kelly for an unforgettable spring break.

I rented this property for the month of October, and had a wonderful time! The weather was terrific until the very end, and this is such an enjoyable beach house….I would just slip on my flip flops, and walk a couple minutes to the beach. I was often the only one on the beach…and felt very spoiled! The beach goes on forever, and is so beautiful. The house’s digs are very comfy. I had several friends come to town to visit during the month, and it was fun to have 4 other bedrooms for my guests. Each bedroom has comfy beds, and fun decor. The downstairs is just perfect for relaxing with friends and family. There is a very comfortable couch set in the family room, and the adjoining kitchen with a big counter and stools make it flow from one space to the next with plenty of seating for all.. Lastly, the adjoining dining room seats all your family and friends at formal meal times in a casual, beachy style. The screen porch was great for leaving our beach finds, and other items we didn’t want to drag into the house. The laundry room is very convenient also. I would just pop the beach towels in as we returned from our swims. The deck is so spacious and fun…we were able to witness many sunsets while sipping wine and noshing on cheese and crackers while sitting in the various lounge chairs. Just beautiful and peaceful! One of my favorite areas was the small patio off the master bedroom, and also accessible from a guest bedroom. I would meet my girlfriends “up top” for a view of the ocean, and another glass of evening wine, or sometimes I’d go out there for my morning coffee and some reflective time. There’s nothing like the view and sound of the waves to calm and soothe the soul! I had a spectacular month at Kelly’s Beach Retreat, and highly recommend a stay there to anyone who feels harried and needs a bit of r and r!! I plan to return next October, to enjoy it all over again!

Three families meet for a reunion at this clean, well maintained and well equipped home near the ocean. The kitchen is spacious with an eating area large enough for a big family. The big table is great for playing games in the evening. Each bedroom is comfortable and we especially liked the second floor deck off the bedrooms. The home has lovely decks to relax, sun, read and watch the wildlife. The beach is a short walk down a path. The beach is large and not crowded with a lifeguard on duty. If you like rainbows arching over the entire sky, star gazing at night and viewing fox, deer (fawns) and water fowl from a private deck in the master suite at dusk and if you love surfing in the ocean waves while feeling at home away from home this is the beach house for you. Kelly’s Beach Retreat provides an immaculate environment with all the amenities in a large kitchen to cook delicious meals and eat in the breakfast/dining room or on the porch overlooking the private forest & dunes in the backyard. Enjoy trips to the Wright Brothers Museum, dune rides to see many wild horses (29) and dining out with family and friends at local restaurants and shopping in Kitty Hawk and Nags Head. A convenient outdoor shower after swimming and reading at the beach in comfortable beach chairs and many places to lounge inside the house and outside on the large deck make every moment very relaxing. Look forward to deep relaxing sleep in this spacious house with well appointed bedrooms and quiet neighbors. We really enjoyed staying at this beach house! Beautiful accommodations, close to the beach, porches to retreat to. The house was a work of art that the Kelly’s have been working on for many yrs. Central vacuum, outdoor shower, fully equipped.

You never know what you’re going to get when you only see online pics. I was pleasantly surprised that Kelly’s Beach Retreat exceed my expectations. Great location! A clean house conveniently located near everything. Somedays, it felt like we had our own private beach.

Thank you for making our rental experience so easy and affordable! Our time at Kelly’s Beach Retreat was everything we had hoped for and more. Your home truly is family friendly! Our children had a blast with all the beach toys, boogie boards, sand and swings! They also enjoyed a nightly in-room movie before bed while the adults had some fun game time in the large kitchen. Corolla was beautiful, such a change from overly crowded beaches. We were slightly frightened of the fins being so close in the water until two amazing dolphins playfully and majestically jumped from the water! We could not have asked for a better vacation! This beach retreat/vacation home is perfect for the traditional family! You can’t beat the Corolla location and reasonable family-priced retreat! Gammie and Pops love hosting our four children and four grandchildren here at Kelly’s Beach Retreat! You’ll feel right at home with the family-style picnic table in the kitchen nook that has surround windows. The living area has plenty of seating and floor space for the kids (and adult kids)! The bedrooms are the perfect size, and the master bedroom is filled with privacy and sunlight – yet open enough to invite the kids in with their sleeping bags! The kitchen is well-stocked for family style cooking or bringing home prepared beach meals! It’s a short walk to the beach, and it’s private enough to feel like you’re the only ones at the beach. We had a mini-family reunion with my son (who was on R&R from an overseas Navy deployment), his young family and (2) of our other adult children. The home was very clean, well-maintained and perfect for a larger family. The owner was very accommodating in every way. We would definitely rent this home again.

We rented this house in October, which is always a great time of year. Not crowded, stores still open, not too hot. The house itself is great, plenty of room for everyone, plenty of seating, and very short walk to the beach. Beach is nice and wide. Owner is great to work with, we will go back again!!

I loved the place it was a great house and had everything you need for a grand vacation. We really had a great time. The house is out of the way, quiet and very close to the beach. What I loved most was that the house was so convenient to everything the grocery store, restaurants and shopping. I would highly recommend staying at the fine house for comfort and pleasure. You will be guaranteed a lovely vacation if you choose to stay at this wonderful house.

We had the week Irene hit the Outer Banks. Glenn was in constant contact with us with a delayed Tuesday arrival. His free hurricane insurance was just that as he extended our stay one day and refunded the day we lost. He delivered as advertised. The house weathered Irene nicely and allowed for an enjoyable stay. We have been with Glenn 4 or 5 times and will return again hopefully without the weather dramas.

The Kelly Retreat is everything that Glenn said…the home is beautifully maintained with large spacious rooms. It has two screened in porches and a porch to sit and watch the deer and wild life walk by while you are reading your summer book. We only went out to eat once as the grill was outside and after swimming all you really wanted to do was rest and relax. The beach is a short walk from the house on a sandy path and up stairs and down just like you imagine on all the pictures you see of the Outer Banks homes being set back on higher elevation. If all is quiet you can hear the waves from the back porch. There was a shower and several hoses for washing the sand off you where the little one’s showered and then swung on the swings. The big screen TV worked perfectly with all stations anyone would want if you want to watch TV in such a beautiful place as this. Mr. Kelly was very easy to work with and was easy to get a hold of in setting up payments etc. I would have another family reunion there in a second and hope that other family’s get to enjoy this retreat as much as my family did. There is nothing I would rather do than mellow out in the Outer Banks at the The Kelly Retreat.

Kelly’s Beach Retreat is a good choice for those wishing to get away from the commercialism we have all grown wearily accustomed to. The home offered every comfort you could wish for…no daily “maid service” to plan around… A true home away from home with the beach nearby. Appreciated the fact that there was a handy wagon for “shlepping” toys, chairs, coolers, etc to the beach. Granddaughter loved the swings just outside of the laundry room. Will definitely be visiting again!

This was our first stay at Kelly’s Beach House. The owner was so wonderful to work with. He gave us all the information we would ever need and when I did have questions, he was prompt to reply. The house was large, spacious and very well taken care of. Our family and dogs had a wonderful time!!

Kelly’s Beach Retreat provided a very comfortable place to call home for our OBX vacation….clean, private, great location in a quiet neighborhood setting, short walk to the beach…SO glad we chose this over a hotel stay…much more relaxing! Will visit again! Consider visiting Lighthouse Bagels during your stay for wonderful sandwiches and gelato! Nearby Harris Teeter store also was very convenient!

This was my second time staying at the Kelly’s beach house. Each time I come back I find a new place to check out. The first time I was there I went to Jockey’s Ridge and this time went to the Currituck Lighthouse. I look forward to coming back in April and discovering yet another new place. I highly recommend this house. What I love most is the big table in the dining area. It was able to hold 10 people for an evening meal. It was nice to eat our pre-race meal and relax.

Great Fall Weekend at OBX October 25, 2010
We are a group of friends who started coming to the OBX over 25 years ago and we stayed at Kelly’s Beach Retreat for 3 nights. It was wonderful. The cottage is large, clean and in a quiet location, but not too far from shopping and restaurants. We were very pleased with the cost. Another great feature was the late check-out time on Sunday so we didn’t have to pack and leave in a rush. Glenn Kelly was very helpful and easy to contact by e-mail or phone. We are planning to return in the spring.

Another great vacation at the Outer Banks and Kelly’s Beach Retreat! The house is a great location, only a short walk to the beach with views of the sunrise and sunset. It is in an area of private homes with beach access-no hotels or public beach access. The house is well furnished and has a large kitchen as well as large area with comfortable furniture for relaxing. We particularly enjoy the option to eat inside with A/C or on the screened porch. Both have a large table that easily accommodates 8. There is a large deck with comfortable furniture for those times you aren’t at the beach. The Harris Teeter is less than 1 mile away and there are lots of shops and restaurants in the Corolla area. This was our fourth year and we’ll definitely return.

We enjoyed our stay at Kelly’s Beach Retreat more than any other OBX vacation. The house is well-furnished (brand new leather sofas in LR, for example) and very comfortable overall. The rooms are large, open, full of light. On days you can’t get to the beach, you’d have a great place to hang out at the house. The owners are super to work with; they provide much more detail and helpful tips about the house and OBX area than any other owners we’ve encountered. This rental is an all-round winner!

My family and I recently stayed at Kellys Beach Retreat, and our stay was fabulous. The house was very inviting and it had all the comforts of home! I was a little apprehensive at first with it not being ocean front, but the walk to beach was easy, simple and even my 2 year old had no problems with it! My family and I come to the OBX every year, and we have definitely found our new vacation rental home. We will be back again next year, thanks for a great week!!

Early Season Vacation at Kelly’s Retreat May 18, 2010
This is my first experience in Corolla, NC and the Kelly’s Beach Retreat is in OBX PRIME location. Mr. Kelly was outstanding to work with, and the house was extremely large with all sorts of amenities included. You honestly only have to put food in the fridge, linens for the beds and swim suits for the beach which is a hop, skip and jump away. I would highly recommend this rental property during any month of the year.

Wow all time record high temperatures for April and a great place to stay made for one of the best weeks our families have ever had. The house was immaculate and has everything you need for a great week. The beach chairs and sand cart were a great help in getting us off each day to the BEAUTIFUL BEACH. Outside shower and faucets were great and the rooms were very comfortable. I hope someday to come back here and relive this past week. Thanks again for letting us stay at your beautiful home.

My husband and I had a nice five days at Kelly’s Beach Retreat with our Australian shepherd. It was great to walk to the beach a few times a day and enjoy the sun on Kelly’s large deck where you can hear the waves. Plenty of nice lounge chairs added to the enjoyment. The kitchen had everything we needed, (pots, dishes, utensils, etc.) plus lots of dining space. Plenty of TV’s and the wireless Internet worked great. The proximity to nice grocery stores and shops is excellent, no time wasted driving around. The owner, Glenn, was a pleasure to deal with, efficient with no realtors involved!

This was our third year at the house and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodations are great and we feel like we are at home. The walk to the beach is short and the beach is not crowded. The deck is our favorite spot to sit and enjoy the evening after a day in the sun or visiting the nearby lighthouses.
